Chiari Malformation
Chiari (kee-AR-ee) malformation (CM) includes a complex group of disorders characterized by herniation of the cerebellum through the large opening in the base of the skull (foramen magnum) into the spinal canal.
Syringomyelia
Syringomyelia (sir-RING-o-my-elia) occurs when a tubular cavity (syrinx) develops within the spinal cord, caused by an obstruction of the cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulatory pathways. Approximately 80 percent of cases are the result of a Chiari malformation.

Roger W. Kula, M.D., completed medical school in 1970 at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore, Md.

Sol N. Mora, M.D., graduated from the SUNY Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1977. He then trained under Dr. Roger W. Kula in Neurology at Kings County Hospital, where he was appointed Chief Resident in Neurology in 1980.
